tory burch

i dont like her. i dont get it. she’s boring. i see this same crap at the gap. she came up with an eye-catching logo and decided her cotton was worth hundreds of dollars. BTW- the popular shift dress first made an appearance in the 1950s, before burch was born so she is not an innovator.

tory burch = overrated

  1. I’m a fan inspite of myself. I like classic styles updated and that’s what a lot of her stuff is. I also like fun, bright colored stuff, and she does that, too. I don’t currently own any Tory as she’s out of my price range. I wouldn’t mind a bag or a pair of shoes, though.

    • i too like fun colors, and we have another thing in common: love of jcrew!!
i’ve never owned anything burch so i cant speak to the quality, but jcrew quality is not bad for the price especially when on sale. their colors are pretty great too.

thanks for the explanation- classic styles updated is it. i didnt see her work that way. it makes sense, but still overpriced.

      • Oh, I totally agree that it’s over priced, and a lot of her stuff I *don’t* like. So much of what I’ve been seeing are all these horrible tunics! DNW! But when she hits it, she hits it. I *hated* her logo shoes when they first came out b/c everyone had a pair. Now that there are more options…I like them.

        Don’t tell nobody.

        J. Crew is TOTALLY overpriced. They’ve been hit or miss for me lately, which is good because it’s forced me to buy elsewhere. :)

  2. agree completely with the shift dress thing. i hate when designers think that there beach bags that cost 10 dollars to make are worth hundreds because of the label they’re stamping on it

  3. I generally like Tory Burch’s items, but I cannot get past the oversized logos, which really cheapen the look her mechandise!

  4. Damn Deka I never noticed this brand.

Maybe it is because it ain’t new huh. Not impressed either. What are the prices like?

  5. Hehe I just like the ubiquitous flats and that’s it.

  6. I refuse to call her a designer b/c she started her “career” as a socialite. Feh.

  7. there’s nothing more to say about tory burch.

it was great seeing you at shanti tonight and i’m now following you on twitter. oh, i love j crew, too!

  8. I think of little UES girls in their Burberry headbands wearing Tory Burch flats and carrying an LV everful tote or the Chanel bucket bag. Yes I hang out uptown sometimes. LOL.

  9. Don’t get it. Never did. Her stores look like a Chinese trunk show.
